This research focuses on life care and research for middle-aged women, because women account for half of the country’s population and also have the heavy responsibility of giving birth to the next generation. Therefore, women-related issues should receive high attention. This article uses the concept of “Spiritual Environmental Protection (SEP)" developed by Master Sheng-Yen, the founder of Dharma Drum Mountain (DDM) as the fundamental method of advocacy. Starting from the purification of the mind through conceptual guidance and the method of meditation, it helps women to face reality and deal with problems with a healthy attitude and to advance their own personality and mental attitude. Women are the rock and backbone of every family structure, but physical and mental pressures often affect family relationships, marriage, economics, and their own health. This helps women acquire relief and self-affirmation of body and mind, improve their mentality and mental health. Emotional adjustment allows middle-aged women to use the method of spiritual environmental protection to attain self-growth and life transformation. This is the chief purpose of this study. Through sharing the life stories of the six cases from DDM, we can learn about the influence of Spiritual Environmental Protection (SEP) on the life transformation of middle-aged women and the positive and healthy effects of social support. SEP involves a change of action, applied in the life course of the middle-aged women, which is quite enlightening and functional. Practicing SEP can not only guide women's thoughts to be stable and settled, but also keep women's minds and emotions in a more peaceful and tranquil state. Everything is made by the mind, all dharmas start from the mind, to see our mind clearly, and to change the current suffering of life, we can acquire peace and freedom of mind. If there is nothing wrong with anything, then one with a healthy mental state is in the Pure Land. In this research, a few interview cases are shared: "Spiritual Environmental Protection" allows them to know the right view, say goodbye to the self-pity and self-sorrow of the past, transform their mentality, reduce life troubles, reduce self-grasping, and create new meaning in life, and live healthier than the past with peace, joy and happiness. Through the practice of Buddhism with the application of SEP, the volunteers participate in activities sharing common beliefs and values, which also enables them to make like-minded friends, and feel the warmth and power of social support meanwhile. Therefore, the volunteer activities not only benefit others but also themselves at the same time. SEP is a practice supported by society for people, they grow from it, affirm themselves, reducing the self to perfect themselves, and continue to increase the meaning of life, and enhance the transformation of life quality. |
